SUNDAY SERVICE LIVE

SCRIPTURE:

V13 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” Nathan replied, “The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.14 But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die.” 15 After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.16 David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into house and spent the nights lying on the ground. 17 The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them. 18 On the seventh day the child died. David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead… How can we tell him the child is dead? He may do something desperate.” 19 “Is the child dead?” he asked. “Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.” 20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.”.

Partoral Reflection

At times we drop small pieces of food to the ground and we don’t think much of it. This is until the ants discover them. For the ants, it’s a feast and they take small pieces of food and take them back to their colony. We think small, but to ants it’s a great meal. Sin is like that. It may look and appear to be small, but the effects are greater than we know. Don’t take lightly at sin, even a small bit of sin is very dangerous. Jesus describes sin as like a yeast. Small amount can make the whole batch of dough rise. Likewise, sin, even in its small state can ruin your whole life. Sin, no matter how small is like a cancer inside of us, killing off the good cells. Sins multiply in us and we need to make sure that we repent and apply the blood of Jesus to wash away all of our sins. For there is nothing but the blood of Jesus that can wash away our sins.

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." This verse offers reassurance and encouragement, reminding individuals that God is present, powerful, and supportive during times of fear and difficulty.
